How Central Command Beat ISIS

Professor Brian Glyn Williams, author of Counter Jihad. The American Military Experience in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria (December 2016), has produced a thoroughly researched summery of the fall of ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Williams summarizes the role of American Special Forces in training, advising, and most importantly targeting insurgents for US air and artillery strikes. However, he warns, just because ISIS has been defeated and their Caliphate destroyed, their cause has not. “For them, this is a generational struggle and, much like the resilient Taliban who boldly proclaimed ‘America might have the watches, but we have time,’ their grievances will be passed on to a new generation.”
